Of all the technologies our research teams have delivered over the years, they consider the Kagawa IIBOR Shears their crowning achievement. Our research team approached the project with a determination like none before. As each member talked with their individual stylists, the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Tendonitis problems plaguing the industry, took on a special significance. Determined to eliminate this #1 career ender, and source of pain and discomfort for over 42% of the world’s stylists, the team poured their hearts and souls into every aspect of the project. As the designs began to emerge, and the physicians confirmed their value, the team ramped up their determination.

Better Shears Through Technology

With the plague cured, they set their sight on the shears themselves. Using the most advanced steel in the world, SCV, the engineers calculated optimal blade thicknesses, lengths and designs. They developed a new pivot technology, eliminating the bumper. A new surface was applied, for improved grip and control.  New sharpening was developed, revolutionizing performance. They didn’t stop there; they designed the shears to work in a matrix, stylists’ can now choose a thumb blade style and mate it with a finger blade style to make over 1300 configurations! 

We have broken the many configurations into three classes; Class A, Class B and Ergonomic (for an explanation on Ergonomic see Ergonomic section).  Our Class A & B shears are Orthotic, meaning the shear is designed in a way that allows all the tissues (bone, ligament, tendon & the rest) to move and work in a healthy way.  Our Ergonomic styles are intended for those stylists who like traditional shear designs and want the advanced technologies embodied in all Kagawa shears.   Ergonomic shears are designed for the most efficient use possible. 

Class A Orthotic Shears

Our Class A Orthotic shears are the pinnacle of our Kagawa IIBOR shears. With high handle styles, and four-finger holding design(standard on all Kagawa shears), they deliver an unmatched feel, comfort and control. Proven to be the most Orthotic design, they are the most recommended style of shear.

Class B Orthotic Shears

The Class B Orthotic shears follow behind the Class A’s in comfort and control. Configured with low handle blades and still applicable to all thumb styles, they still offer improved Orthotic benefit. However, since the hand is not in its natural position, they are recommended only for intermittent use.

Erognomic Shears

The Ergonomic Class is designed for those preferring the traditional style of shear. Though Ergonomics contain all of Kagawa’s technological advantages, they are not Orthotic shears, and stylists are encouraged to choose a Class A shear for primary use.
